Boy Scout Troop 53

       A new year has begun. The busier we get the more time seems to be going by faster and faster. Even so, we continue to be doing what we love to do, Scouting, Camping, Working to help boys grow into young men with good strong character.
       We have had many opportunities in 2007 and promise to have as many in 2008, to grow Troop 53 into a real Honor troop. We look forward to working with the boys and helping to educate them in things that are fun, exciting and character building.
       A few of the opportunities will come in the way of camping trips. Some of these will be Gp;d        We look forward to an exciting year as our troop membership continues to grow and the Scouts take on more responsibility in operating the troop activities. Come join in the fun and bring a friend with you.
       This year we are giving a tent to each Scout that brings one more boy into the troop and that boy stays for six months. We have one boy already on track to take home the first tent. We would like to give a tent to each current member of the troop. So get busy and invite your friends.
       The Summer Camp trip is scheduled for June 15-21. Our troop will be going to Skymont Scout Reservation on the Cumberland Plateau. It is located about 65 miles form Red Bank near Altamount Tn. All of the boys will need to have current Medicals. More information will be sent home with the Scouts in the coming few weeks.
       Again, we look forward to a wonderful and exciting new year and hope that you have one also.
